Bench and Table
IDEA
This project is designed to bring functional elegance to small apartment patios. Inspired by the Japandi style, I’ve combined the warmth of teak with the durability of ballistic nylon to create a bench and coffee table that maximize style and comfort. The bench, sized to seat two people, features a backrest for added relaxation, while the coffee table nestles underneath, allowing for flexible use of space without compromising on aesthetics.
INSPIRATION
This project comes from a desire to enhance the way people experience small outdoor spaces. I wanted to help urban dwellers create patios that feel like true extensions of their homes—places where they can relax, connect, and enjoy a sense of comfort despite limited square footage.
MEET JASON & NAOMI
Jason and Naomi are a couple who recently moved to the city to open a cozy bookstore café, a dream they’ve nurtured for years. Their days are filled with the scent of fresh coffee and the rustle of turning pages, but at the end of the day, they retreat to their small apartment just a few blocks away. With limited space, they want to transform their patio into a serene escape—somewhere to sip their morning espresso, unwind after long shifts, or share quiet moments together.

Jason and Naomi are enthralled Japandi aesthetic. Japandi beautifully marries the clean functional lines of Scandinavian style with the simplicity, natural elements, and refined elegance of Japanese minimalism. This is
a design philosophy that emphasizes quality craftsmanship, understated beauty, and a strong connection to nature. For this outdoor patio piece, I have drawn from these key Japandi elements to create a design that blends seamlessly with the couple's modern lifestyle. The piece features clean lines, simple but elegant shapes, and a thoughtful use of materials. The structure is crafted with a focus on functionality and space, each detail serves a purpose, from the compact seating designed for maximum comfort to the
durable materials that will withstand the elements.
